being informed.....

Hooray for lazy weekends. Left the house on Saturday night for church, and Sunday morning to pick up Rock Band 2, and that was it. Some family time, some alone time, and no running around.

Want to thank Casey (just cover your eyes from the Patriot jerseys) for the nice words when he mentioned to his readers to check out this blog if they are looking for some political dialog. In his note he mentioned that my posts made him think about some things, and that really made me feel good.

Reason for that is I am not looking for these posting to change your mind. I want these posting to make you think, which in turn may have you change your mind (one way or the other).

My biggest "peeve" during election season is hearing or reading someone say they are backing a candidate because of a catchphrase. "Obama is all about change", or "McCain is going to clean up Washington". "McCain will get us off foreign oil" or "Obama will reform health care". Really? How? Please tell me one piece of a significant idea or issue (health care, economy, energy, foreign affairs, etc.) with some detail from your candidate that you think will get on down a right path. Most people can't do it. To a significant part of the possible voters, this is just like American Idol. Catchy phrase or a look is all it takes.

So, whether you agree or disagree with my leanings and discussions here, please take the next 50 days to know at least one issue that makes you want to vote for your candidate.

Reapergrrl mentioned in her posting today about the negative tone of the candidates. She is correct, and as we get closer to the election, when more start "tuning in", the ads make people want to "tune out".

Today, I am going to make a suggestion to the McCain campaign. Please get above the fray. The campaign has been blasted by the media on some of the ads that have run lately, and I am going to agree with them (shiver). Don't let Obama look like a victim. You came out of the conventions on a high, keep it going, and don't let this "mud" make you slip down below the others.

I know you made the suggestion back in late spring to have a Town Hall meeting with your opponent once a week, every week of the campaign. He turned you down. People don't know you asked for those meetings. You should have sent out a press release each day extending the invitation.

If your internet savvy daughter, or anyone from your campaign is trolling blogs and sees this, feel free to contact me for more advice. :-)

- How much longer for this financial shake-up before we settle?
- Opening skit was the only funny piece of SNL.
- People like this Clooney / Pitt team.

Until the next time.....
