dog & pony show (part 2).....

We are now in the middle of the Repubican Convention (after a day and half lull because of Hurricane Gustov), with tonight us finally hearing from Governor Palin, and tomorrow night from John McCain. As also mentioned last Tuesday, it is really the "same ol', same 'ol" for the whole week, except for the hour that Sarah Palin will speak tonight. Why? Because, for most of the country this will be the first time ever hearing her. There is a sense of "wonder" out there. Will she fall flat on her face? Will people see why people that know her like her so much? Will she really shake things up?

I figure for the same reason many tuned in to finally hear from Barack Obama last Thursday night, about the same numbers will turn on to hear Governor Palin. At least you would hope so, and not that people will have already have made up their minds on her because of what the media has said for these past five days.

I think she will do fine tonight, and people that were not sure, and come in with an open mind, will like her. But in truth, it will be the next two weeks or so, once out on the campaign trail, and when finally interviewed by the national media like Meet The Press, Face the Nation, etc., that will show her true value.

As for the "dog and pony" part. When zipping through what went on and was covered by television, it was the same old thing. I did notice how elaborate the DNC's set-up was as compared to this stage for the RNC. Not sure if the DNC went overboard, or if the RNC went understated, but there was a noticeable difference.

I will give a pat on the back to Senator Joe Lieberman. I don't agree with all his thinkings, but for him to actually walk out at the Republican Convention stage less than eight years after being the Democratic VP nominee, took guts. Thought I will bet that he does eat alone when at Democratic gatherings.

Morgan has started her preparation for the church breakfast that she is providing to them on Saturday morning. She will have a yogurt parfait, croissants, and fruit for them. This is a breakfast for all the small group leaders in the church.

For Cassie and I, our Saturday and Sunday morning will be tied up in La Jolla and her rough water swim event. Besides practice on Saturday morning, we need to pick up her race packet, which I was told can be a long line. Then on Sunday (with Morgan joining us) will be her "race" at 9am. For her age group it is only 250 yards, so she should do real well.

I am off to set up my 4th Fantasy Football team. I got "last minute asked" by the guys in the Geezer Gamers West group to help fill their league, and could not say "no". I should have, but really did not want to, as I like playing with fellow Geezers, and managing teams is easy once the season starts. Funny thing is for me, that I am now in four different leagues (one with my high school buddies, three with Geezers), through four different sites (NFL.com, ESPN, Yahoo & FleaFlicker), and each one is a totally different set-up, league rules and scoring. Yikes.

- Need to catch up on Lost. Here are all the episodes.
- She really needed her e-mail.
- NC's N&O downsizing staff and paper? Will there be actual newspapers in 20 years?

Until the next time.....
