Cassie had her rough water swim on Sunday morning, and had a good time. She did very well for her first "ocean race", and Morgan and I are proud of her. The above pictures from the morning in La Jolla. If you look (very closely, squint) to the left in the ocean picture, you can Cassie's orange cap in the water. :-)
Our church never ceases to amaze me with what they will do for the congregation. As I mentioned in prior posts, we are basically going to read the Bible in one year, and our weekly sermons will take us through the journey. We have been calling it, "Year of The Book". So, on Saturday night, we received a very nice 4 page "booklet" (laminated, colorful design, the whole nine yards) giving us 3 different areas of the Bible to read every day (Old & New Testament, along with a Psalm or Proverb). Each day (numbered from 1 to 365) is marked with a checkbox for you to mark off your readings each day. Then on top of that, every single person in the congregation was to receive a CRB T-shirt with the church's design on the front, and the "Year of The Book" design on the back. Very nice shirt, and another great idea, gift from the church.
Hopefully, there are a few new readers / lurkers here at the blog. I invited some people from Geezer Gamers over after a thread discussing the Presidential election was "locked" by the moderators. It was a very civil nine page (almost 150 post) discussion, but someone got uncomfortable, and it was closed down. I spoke with some in charge, and because somebody got uncomfortable, I agreed with their decision, as we are first and foremost a gaming site.
I have included a "following" area on the front page. Please feel free to let me know that you are following the site, even if you don't post any comments, etc.
On Friday morning when Soledad O'Brien, from CNN, was speaking with someone from workingmother.com, and how their boards were 50/50 on whether she was capable in handling the job and being a mother. O'Brein, the mother of four, was taken aback. She could not believe that there were women actually claiming another woman could not do a job because of being a mother. On top of that, the editor of the magazine stated that it seemed to be the number of children, and the young ages that seemed the most problemsome. That is when O'Brein mentioned she had four children of her own. Th editor was also bewildered by her own readers, as this is Working Mother Magazine, but she said this has been one of the most heated debates ever on their site.
Then Sunday, on CNN's Reliable Sources, Sally Quinn, of the Washington Post, also stated that she thinks the number of children, combined with the young ages, should be a reason of concern with Palin. Quinn had made this point earlier in the week, withdrew it in a Fox News interview, but was again bringing it up. Part of her reasoning was that even though they say the husband will take care and have all the same duties as a stay at home mom, men don't do the same amount as as a woman that stays home, and the woman still ends up still having to handle the children and household after they get home from work, or the office. So besides women not being able to balance work and family, she thinks men are incompetent to stay at home and have most of the household duties. Nice going in offending two different groups at once.
This is 2008, and this is still a discussion, and one that women are willing to argue against other women?
- Bad for the Patriots, and bad for football in general.
- Worst movie weekend in 7+ years. Good. Make better ones.
- This was a trainwreck. I miss Tim Russert.
Until the next time.....

People kill me on their thoughts about Palin. I just won't even comment further on that one....
It is starting to bother me how much the Left now feels that women staying at home barefoot and pregnant is all of a sudden a good thing and proper. Liberals are really starting to PISS ME OFF!
