back home.....

Morgan is back home from Ireland, and had a great time. She took over 500 pictures, and once I get the chance to edit them a bit for size, etc., I will start posting some of them. It is good to have her home. Real good. :-)

Not much going on otherwise, as we had a lazy Labor Day, and with the start of the month, my work has started flowing into the office. I'll be off in a short time to La Jolla for Cassie's swim practice, as that seems to be taking up time the rest of this week.

The big stories of the weekend was Gustov hitting the Gulf Coast, and some hiccups for Governor Palin.

Gustov did damage like any hurricane of that size would, but the obsession with New Orleans got to be a bit much. I understand the devastation of Katrina, and what happened in the days after Katrina with the slow government response, was dismal, but this is a city that is on the coast, and that is below sea level. Unless someone stopped Katrina in 2005, the destruction was going to occur. Now, because of the tragedies of three years ago, it seems the local, state, and federal government will go over board to protect the city, with the media right there for every second of it. New Orleans did OK, but it seems the smaller towns were hit the hardest, and they had no news crews camped out for them.

I will be interested to see the coverage for the rest of the storms that seem to be lining up in the Atlantic over the next couple of weeks, and if the same type of coverage is brought to them.

As for John McCain's VP pick, Governor Palin, she could have had a better weekend. This is not the way the Republicans wanted to have her introduced to the public.

"Trooper Gate" (as it is being nicknamed), is not much of anything, and if there is anything there, it looks like she was just protecting her family, in this case of sister and children, from a custody case that had turned real sour.

With the case of her daughter, Bristol, this is a very private matter, which seems that the family is handling in a healthy, and loving way. What more can you ask for, as this is a family issue, which unfortunately hits too many families across this country. Is this what they want for their 17 year old daughter? Of course not, but you deal the cards that are given to you, and move forward.

I do applaud, Senator Obama on his statement saying that this is a private matter, and the children of all politicians should be "off limits".

Off to the Pacific.

- Google's new browser, set to rival IE.
- Equal time. IE8 is available in beta.
- New iPods coming?

Until the next time.....
